The size of the rucksack you will need for your Duke of Edinburgh’s Bronze award will depend on the type of activities you plan to do and the length of time you will be out on the hike.
The plan will involve you do longer hikes with overnight camping trips, you may need a larger rucksack that is capable of holding 50-60 litres of gear.
It’s always a good idea to check with your group leader or the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award organisation to see if they have any specific guidelines or recommendations for the size of rucksack you should use.
However we would recommend a good 60 litre rucksack as this will allow you to pack all the essential equipment to you need.
If you go much larger you will fill the space with unnecessary equipment and add weight making the expedition harder. We wouldn’t recommend going to our larger 80+ bags for the bronze award.
